Emma Jones
Event Coordinator
I was able to participate in the functioning of this event last year and was so passionate about the cause that I asked to be more involved this year. I have been helping put on the Riley Dance Marathon for the past 3 years and I`m hoping for this to be the best event yet!

This is my second year coordinating this event. It started out as a genius hour project and now it is much more. I have been very excited about this event for the past two years and being able to help such amazing people in the process. I,m hoping that this year will be even more successful than last year.

Jasper Lenglade
Nov 2017 - Since the JasperStrong tournament in 2017 Jasper has had more good days than bad. He is still in remission and in the phase of treatment that is called Maintenance. This phase entails daily (oral), weekly (oral) and monthly (IV) chemo. He still undergoes regular spinal taps and blood work to ensure the cancer has not come back. He will remain in Maintenance until he “rings out” in July 2019. While he has had more good days than bad, he has still struggled with the chemo and was in the hospital in June/July for 14 days due to side effects from it. He had to have his gallbladder removed, because the chemo damaged it, and his liver function was greatly increased. Because of the liver issues his daily and weekly chemo were reduced to 50% and were then gradually increased to 100% over the next 4 months. They say that Maintenance is supposed to be an easier phase, and in some respects it is, but it’s still hard on the body. Hair falls out, bones hurt, liver gets angry and that’s just a few of the side effects. Some days, his body hurts so bad he can’t get out of bed. He has compression fractures in his back, no improvement in the avascular necrosis in his hips and the bones in his feet are also damaged, to the extent he has to wear braces. Despite it all, he remains positive and strong, living life to the fullest. He convinced his Ortho doc to let him ride roller coasters this past Halloween. He promised to only ride “smooth” ones. And he is going to try and play basketball this winter. He has also joined Boy Scouts, where he plans on participating in monthly camp outs, which means he will be sleeping in tents, in a sleeping bag, on the ground. He refuses to let the cancer and his treatment hold him back. He is forever #JasperStrong.
